Style interaction explorer
How to work with any style
Pick your style and the style you're working with. You'll see the dynamic between you, what to watch for, and concrete ways to adapt — in that direction.
Driver
Tell-oriented and task-focused. Moves fast, decides quickly, and measures interactions by results.
Expressive
Tell-oriented and people-focused. Energetic, persuasive, and idea-driven; measures interactions by excitement and recognition.
Amiable
Ask-oriented and people-focused. Steady, supportive, and cooperative; measures interactions by trust and harmony.
Analytical
Ask-oriented and task-focused. Precise, systematic, and reserved; measures interactions by accuracy and logic.
Your speed and directness against their steadiness and harmony. The highest-risk pairing for silent misalignment: they'll agree to your face and disengage afterward.
Trade speed for trust — you'll get real commitment instead of quiet compliance.
Watch out for
- Silence or a quick 'sure' is often not agreement — it's avoidance of conflict with you
- Pushing for an instant decision buys a false yes
- Skipping the personal check-in reads as not caring
Adapt by
- Slow your pace deliberately; soften volume and edge
- Open with a genuine personal check-in before business
- Ask for their view directly, then wait through the pause
- Make disagreement explicitly safe: 'I'd rather hear the objection now'
- Give decisions a deadline with breathing room instead of demanding one on the spot
- Thank them specifically for contributions they'd never claim credit for
